Inside a ******* * house party

The ONE thing M$ is very good at is propaganda, more commonly know as FUD. People like belonging to things and the Windows 7 launch parties make it cool so that people want to belong. Certain sections of the media also take this so that M$ now does not even have to pay for their marketing.
If we have a Linux release party and “Two techies from the area teamed up to highlight ******* *’* key features and answer questions”, people will most likely say or at least think that is because nobody else understands Linux. Insert Linux distro of choice in the appropriate space.
To promote Linux and in this writers case, UBUNTU, we have to give it a cool factor so that general users WANT to belong to the group of Linux users. Make it a cool, fun, easy “club” to belong to.
Apologies to all here and at Ubuntu-ZA for not being active the last 3 weeks.
I don’t think anyone can fault M$ for there marketing skills and I don’t believe Linux user should try too. On the corporate side I think M$ have maid a big mistake with the launch of Vista as most companies are looking for cost effect solutions. With all the core changes to Vista and M$7 most corporates have started looking at other alternatives.
FNB have gone OpenSuse and it seems its gonna be a success. I believe more will follow and the Linux user bases will grow. M$ dont need to advertise as its mostly what people know so where we all sit and watch distrowatch.com for whats new they sit on microsoft.com to c whats new to them.
All I can say is that i have watched Linux grow from the old days when it was Redhat and Mandrake to the OS’s like ubuntu and some others that have become great M$ replacements.
Ubuntu is surely making its mark on the user side and it seems openSUSE on the corporate side.
