I think there should definitely be a section on setting up local-infrastructure connections. Most of the content could be generic and then add in sections for SA-specific things. Perhaps a small section from Translate.org.za?

Are you planning to keep it as general as possible, or would there be some focus on South Africa? If there is a South African focus I would suggest adding instructions for common setup tasks such as internet via Vodacom/MTN/whatever 3G.

@morgan and @zerlgi have suggested creating distribution specific installation guides to help new users get up and running. The one suggestion has been that the guides should have two parts: a) initial install and b) addons like flash, mp3, etc. Makes sense to me. Any other ideas?
